We had an extremely busy May for our Casa -Grade 8 athletes. On May 14th, our Casa through Grade 4 students participated in their Wheatley Track and Field Meet. Competitors were involved in 60 m. and 100 m. runs at the track. Field events included the ball throw, standing long jump, and the running long jump. Thank you to our Grade 7 and 8 classes for running all the events so well. On May 16th, our 60 member Grade 3-8 cross-country team competed with Beacon, Calvary, NCC, and Eagle’s Nest schools in the spring meet here at Wheatley. Despite some stiff competition, our team captured the championship again this year. Congratulations runners! A special thank you to all the teachers who helped marshal the races. On May 17th, the Grade 5-8 students competed in the Wheatley Tribal Track Meet. Events included: 100m., 200m., 800m., and 1500m. races, as well as running long jump and ball throw as field events. Cayuga captured the championship with a total of 201 points. On May 28th, which was a stifling hot day, our Casa through Grade 8 students travelled to Oakes Park in Niagara Falls for a combined play day and track meet with the East Niagara Athletic Association. From 9-11:30 a.m. the Casa-Grade 3 students participated in the standing long jump, potato sack race, ball throw, 50m. run, and free play on the playground. Grade 4-8 students competed in the 100, 200, 400, 800m. runs and relay races. The field events were the high jump, long jump, triple jump, and ball throw. All students exhibited great behaviour and keen effort. Thank you to all parents and teachers who helped facilitate this event. A special thanks to Calvary School for hosting the meet.
