Mrs. Elia and Mrs. Lubin 6-9 South We have had an outstanding start to our school year! Maria Montessori said that “the child who is served, is limited in his/her independence”. We would like to sincerely thank the parents of 6-9 South in aiding their children as they self-manage their lockers. By dropping off your child at our double doors in the morning and heading straight out, you have helped your children to do things for themselves at their lockers. As a result, we are reaping the rewards in the classroom as well. Our students are settling in beautifully, making good choices and developing their independence with their work. Maria Montessori referred to this as “normalization”, and this year, we have seen it much earlier than in years before. We hope that you are also finding the flow of the morning easier. We welcome your feedback. In keeping with our tradition, we will be doing a Harvest Soup to celebrate Thanksgiving weekend. More details will be included in the children’s agendas, which should be signed each day. Please remember our PD Day will be on October 6th. We have a field trip planned for our Grade 3 to Westfield Heritage Village on October 23rd. This trip will assist the children in understanding the life of the early settlers and be an excellent learning experience for them to augment our studies in class. Details of what to wear and pack for lunch will be sent home in your child’s agenda. Our main studies in October include Plant & Solar System studies, Early Settlers (Grade 3) learning about the passage of time, the concept of money, and grammar. Thank you again for your help and support. We are confident this is going to be a great year!
