By M. Kovacs “You have brains in your head you have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose.” ― Dr. Seuss It's the bittersweet time of year again when I have the privilege to bid a farewell to the group of students I've gotten to know so well since September. But before I get into that, there are a few bits of housekeeping. In just a few short weeks, the class will be participating in the Canadian Test of Basic Skills --- a test that gives us valuable feedback concerning your child's progress from year to year. For those whose child was at Wheatley last year, you'll remember the test. Always be punctual but especially on testing days as we start promptly at 9 am. If your child will be absent for all or part of a day, write a note in the agenda so I can plan a make-up date for the parts missed. Our annual end-of-the-year camping trip is coming up quickly (June 5-7). More information including what to pack as well as an agenda and a brief form regarding dietary and health information will be going home in a few weeks. The final payment will be due at that time. We will be planting throughout May and students will be bringing home their plants in early June. The planting season also corresponds to some of our more exciting Botany lessons, especially "Functions of Plants". We will be spending more time outdoors studying Kingdom Plantae and all it has to offer. And now it's back to my good-byes. I wish each of you all the best in grade five. My only humble request is that once in a while, you come back to your old stomping grounds in grade four and let me know some of the great things you're doing. Oh, the places you'll go!
