Mr. Hamilton Once again, Camp Kandalore was quite simply an amazing experience! According to our staff and students’ comments the polar dip, campfire, snowshoeing, snow cones, cross-country skiing, Inuit blanket toss, the luge mattressing, the high ropes and our culminating event, the Wheatley Olympics, were all part of an exciting curriculum for everyone. A great deal of courage and effort were summoned up to tackle each activity and it was extremely gratifying to see each student challenge his or her comfort zone to discover the thrill of new experiences. The Kandalore staff was well trained and along with the Wheatley staff provided great leadership for all students. In a discussion initiated by the director we were told that everyone looks forward to the Wheatley visit and were impressed by our tribal system which provides so many leadership opportunities for the Grade 7/8 students and so much support for the Grade 5/6 students. As teachers, it was so satisfying to see the bonding among students, the teamwork, and a growing awareness of the beauty of nature - especially during the season that spawns so many complaints. Imagine, three days without cell phones, television, or electronic games. Peace at last! I believe I speak for all involved when I state emphatically, “We’ll be Back!”
