Miss Emily Waters Pod 1 In November, our students will learn about the meaning of Remembrance Day. We will talk about the significance of the Poppy, about being respectful, and the peace and kindness Canada enjoys today. Following Remembrance Day is our Anti-Bullying week from November 20-24. In our classroom, we will continue to embrace the theme of peace education. During this time we will be learning about our newest territory, Nunavut, and the Inukshuk. The Inukshuk can be found all over Canada. It represents a helping hand from one human to another. It is a sign for safe passage and a directional sign. The Inukshuk communicates that one human has been in the same location and it is a safe place to be. When you come into Pod I there is a painting of an Inukshuk. The children know that other children have been to our classroom and it is a safe place to be. We are looking forward to working with our friends in Pod II learning about Nunavut and the Inukshuk together. On Thursday, November 2 the school is closed for our mandatory Parent-Teacher Conferences. We look forward to speaking with you. Friday, November 24 is a Grub Day. Children are welcomed to wear non-uniform clothing to school. Instead of the usual $2, please send a non-perishable food item for Community Care. Please remember to update articles of clothing in your child’s bag to appropriate seasonal clothing. Happy November!
