Lower & Upper Elementary February 21 & 22 Public speaking can be a frightening experience to many people. It takes a lot of courage to get up in front of others. However, the benefits of public speaking are endless. With communication technology taking over our lives, teaching public speaking skills is more relevant today than ever before. This month, both Lower and Upper Elementary students will be busy writing speeches on a topic of their choice, and the Grade 1 students will memorize a favourite poem as part of their public speaking experience. The class contest winners will compete in the school-wide contest scheduled on the dates below. Parents are invited to attend. Grades 4-8 Wednesday, February 21, at 2:00 pm Grades 1-3: Thursday, February 22, at 2:00 pm Winners from the school-wide speech contest are eligible to compete in the Citywide Public Speaking Contest at the Royal Canadian Legion, Port Dalhousie Branch 350, which takes place on Saturday, February 24.
