M. Kovacs Grade Four The grade four class is wrapping up their study of The Great Books in the coming weeks. The 10 classic stories were all enriching and engaging. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing how the students progressed through the books, acquiring many new skills and honing others. They even had the opportunity to write their first five-paragraph essays and a book report. We are also concluding our study of the various biomes from across Canada. Our visits to Nature School were a great complement to our study. As much as I am looking forward to the snow-covered ground in January, what is more on my mind is the prospect of studying ancient civilizations. After taking a look at each of the ancient civilizations, we will arrive at the crux of our study: The Middle Ages. Beginning with the fall of the Roman Empire, students will learn about what life was like during the early, high, and late middle ages. We will spend time using our hands as well, as students will be engaged in building, sewing, cooking, painting, and crafting items from the time period to further enrich their experience. As always, if you have any questions feel free to reach out to me to discuss
