Mr. Wilson This spring our Upper Elementary science curriculum focuses on physics, flight, and matter. Our grade five and seven students have been learning about changes in state and chemical changes, our grade six students have been learning about the basic principles of flight, and our grade eights have been focusing on pneumatics and hydraulics. All of this is well and good, but what makes science exciting are the hands-on activities that make these concepts come alive. You may have heard your child excitedly talk about explosive hydrogen balloons, desalinization techniques or making drinking water. Perhaps you helped your child complete a write up of another hands-on lab activity or helped your child see the application of Pascal’s Law to the brake system in a car. The hands-on nature of our program here at Wheatley School is something we are all very proud of and sets us apart from our peers. This year in science and technology we hope you and your child enjoyed the thrilling and thought provoking hands-on activities that emphasize the scientific enterprise, and help spark curious minds. We look forward to another year very soon!
