Blue & Green Day~ Friday, April 20th Earth Day is an annual event celebrated on April 22 all over the world. Various events are held to demonstrate support for environmental protection. Senator Gaylord Nelson of Wisconsin started the first Earth Day. He was disturbed that an issue as important as our environment was not addressed in politics or by the media, so he created the first Earth Day, on April 22, 1970. An estimated 20 million people nationwide attended festivities that day. We will be celebrating Earth Day on Friday, April 20th. Students may come to school wearing blue and green instead of their school uniform to celebrate this special day. Our students will be participating in many activities that focus on how to take care of our environment.
