Mrs. Varalli November 2017 Let Us Reflect! It’s hard to believe another month has come and gone so quickly. October was a whirlwind month full of activities and events. Congratulations to Mr. Hamilton and our cross-country team for winning first place at our invitational cross country meet. Kudos to all our runners for running hard determined to perform at their personal best. October came to a close with a fun-filled afternoon of Halloween activities. A big thank you goes out to our teachers, students, and parents for all their help creating and helping with the activities. A special thank you goes out to Parent Guild for organizing the Dance-a-Thon. Halloween celebrations would not be the same without this fun event. Thursday, November 2nd is Parent-Teacher Conferences. It has been a pleasure reading all the mid-term reports cards and noting all the growth and development that has taken place since September. As a learning community, teachers, along with the students, and their parents, will reflect and plan the next steps to continue the growth and development until the next report. November 20-24 is Anti-Bully Week. November is traditionally our Peace Month. Staff and students take time to reflect on who we are as a community, the role peace plays in our school and in our life. Maria Montessori saw the child as the teacher of peace. She believed that children are naturally peaceful. They can be compassionate, cooperative and respectful of themselves and others. It is our job, the adults in their life, to continually reinforce these natural instincts by modelling them. Our Peace Club has planned many activities that focus on this year’s theme “ All Different-All Equal”. I will be in the office during Parent-Teacher Conferences. Please drop by to say hello or make an appointment if you would like to meet with me. Have a peaceful November!
