Dressed for the Weather! Our unusual warm fall weather is coming to an end, and it’s time to pull out our warm winter clothes. Please make sure your child comes to school with the appropriate outside clothing for the day’s weather conditions. Our students, in every division, have a daily scheduled outside recess, and all students are expected to go outside. Please don’t assume that they will not be going out just because it was frigid at 8:45 am. We regularly check in with Environment Canada weather office to keep track of the day’s temperature. Therefore, a decision to keep children in at recess or have them go out is made just before they are scheduled to go out. When we experience extremely cold temperatures, Toddler and Casa students will not go outside if the temperature is -15 degrees Celsius or colder with a wind chill. Elementary students will not go outside if the temperature is – 18 Celsius or colder with the wind chill. We also consider the amount of sun and wind when making decisions to keep students in or not.
