May 14-17 Each May, the children in Grades 2-4 participate in the Canadian Test of Basic Skills (CTBS). This standardized test is a trusted and reliable evaluation process that is administered by the classroom teachers. The CTBS evaluates each individual child in major curriculum areas, which include vocabulary, reading, language usage, mathematics and science. It allows us to see how our students use what they have learned in the Montessori classroom and apply it to writing a traditional test. How can you best prepare your child? The best gift you can give your child during this week is to ensure that they get a good night’s sleep, have a healthy breakfast, and arrive at school on time. If you are interested in your child’s results you can make an appointment with his/her teacher the week following the test.
