By Emily Waters We in pod one have been watching for signs of spring outside our classroom window. The grass is greener, the tulips are up and are getting ready to flower. The trees are developing tiny leaves; spring is in the air. In May we will study botany and take a closer look at flowers. We will explore the purpose of flowers, look at the immense variety of blooms and learn some of their names. We hope to plant our own garden as the weather becomes warmer. May is a busy month and we ask you to remember the following events: On May 1st, our Graduates will perform in their French Presentations at 2:00pm. They have been practicing every day and look forward to the performance. Our Mother’s Day Tea is scheduled for Friday May 11. Please sign up for a morning or afternoon session. We are very excited to have you visit. The annual school wide art show is on the 30th of May. Please make time in your schedule to see the many pieces of art created by our talented students. On the 30th we also welcome grandparents to see our classroom. The event is similar to “Come and see what I can do” day and grandparents will have a chance to watch their grandchild working with the materials. As a follow up to Earth Day, we’d like to invite your to come by Pod 1 anytime to view our beautiful wall hanging of the map of the world that the students helped sew together to celebrate our love of our planet Earth.
